Jumped right in to learning how to tie snowshoe bindings and get used to being on snowshoes yesterday on the first day of the spring 2022 semester here at Jack Mountain. Still a lot of snow on the ground and more in the woods, so students will be on snowshoes for a bit while everything melts out. The first week of these semesters is usually focused on outdoor home economics, learning to cook over a fire, learning to use an axe effectively, and learning about our systems for off-grid living. Pretty excited to be getting going on it, and enjoying getting the chance for people to experience a little bit of winter before the water opens up and we start focusing on traveling in canoes. Stay tuned.
