We’re right in the middle of our family bushcraft week here at school of forest.
We’ve been having a great time with it. Yesterday was not only the solstice but the fourth birthday of one of the little ones on the program. So we spent yesterday learning a bunch of ecology and wood skills and then making a big birthday dinner including a cake in the Dutch oven over the fire. It’s been amazing to watch how quickly families fall into our systems for living outdoors. When they all arrived they’d never really cooked over a fire this way, and within a few days they were making a dinner of chicken wings and baking a cake. Looking forward to the rest of the week, and all the learning that’s going to keep happening here.
